Character Based Literacy (CBL) of Santa Clara University's Markkula Center for Applied Ethics exemplifies Progress Through Innovation as the premier curriculum designed for students as risk for school faiure and antisocial behavior. It has been used in schools across California for over 20 years. The latest innovation has been the evolution of the CBL curriculum into flexible lesson plans for any teacher; whether they teach 40, 60, 90 minute periods or an independent study model.
