Brian Uslan has worked in California's Department of Education for over 25 years as a researcher, manager, program specialist and consultant on many of the State's important initiatives. Since joining the CDE in 1990, Brian has worked on a number of key State and department efforts including implementation of the Class Size Reduction Program, bringing technology into the classroom with the Digital High School Program, and implementation of the State's STAR and CAHSEE assessment programs. Prior to joining CDE, Brian worked 8 years as a legislative staff person with the California Assembly as a California Assembly Fellow and later as a Senior Consultant focusing on education finance. In 2006 Brian brought this wide range of experience to his current position as a consultant with the CDE's Educational Options, Students Support, and American Indian Education Office. In this position, Brian has focused on juvenile court and county community schools as well as serving as the CDE liaison to JCCASAC and the Student Programs and Services Steering Committee (SPSSC). For the last year, Brian was the Chairperson of the AB 2276 Juvenile Court Student Transition Work Group.
